On last night’s Doctor Who Christmas Special, amongst all the sentimentality, there was some really important information divulged. What are the things that fans should remember?
Steven Moffat promised a Christmas episode that would require tissues and be filled with sentimentality. Now whether or not he succeeded in doing that is debatable. Nonetheless, some important information was revealed that fans should keep in mind for future plot lines:
- The sonic screwdriver is completely rubbish when it comes to wood. If you want to capture the Doctor, don’t worry about deadlock sealing in the Doctor in a room. Just hammer him into a wooden box with wooden pegs and the screwdriver is fairly useless.
- The next series will presumably pick up two years in the future. According to Amy, it’s been two years since she and Rory last saw the Doctor.
- River has likely still visited Rory and Amy in the last two years since Amy makes no mention that River has been gone for an equal period. She says “River is a good girl.” referring to the end of the last series when River told her that the Doctor was still alive. If River had only popped back then and not more recently Amy might have had more questions for the Doctor rather than a simple “come in.”
- There’s always an extra place set at the table for the Doctor, is there also a place for River? There is no mention made of that option, and presumably she wasn’t there, or she would have come to the door.
- The Doctor is finally moved to tears by Rory and Amy…or was it just the snow? We’ve seen this Doctor angered, elated, relieved, worried and a myriad of other emotions when it comes to these two companions. I believe it’s the first time we’ve seen tears out of this Doctor.
What do you think about these facts? How would you rate last night’s episode?
