Over the past few weeks we’ve heard bits and pieces of news confirming a new Harry Potter theme park and perhaps an expansion to the existing one.

And while it may not come as a surprise, today we’re hearing that Harry Potter films set designer Stuart Craig, who led the design of The Wizarding World in Orlando, is currently working on new plans.

Producer David Heyman confirmed the news when speaking to Coming-Soon.net at the Potter luncheon held last week:

They’re brilliant people so they’ll work, and look at what Dan’s doing, look at what Alan’s doing. Ralph is now directing. Stuart Craig is working on the theme park. It was an apprenticeship in a way. A lot of young people blossomed into more experienced senior people. Assistant art directors are now art directors, assistants in my office are now head of post-production or doing publicity. The visual FX industry in England which was very modest is now as good as anywhere in the world. I think all of those people aren’t going to be struggling. They’re going to find work because they’re all really, really good.

What do you think he’s presently drawing up?

That’s tue about all the people who’s career are now made because of potter. Imagine being able to put several potter movies on your resume! Also I’m so excited about expansion. And hopefully another location on the west coast of the states.

Good for him…if only he can get his hands on an Oscar for Potter…

My first guess would be something for Universal Singapore, which is super highly themed compared to the other Universal parks and would be a great place for Potter.

After that, I’d guess an expansion to the current park in Orlando (Gringotts, Diagon Alley, etc.)

And this may be wishful thinking, but I’ve been hearing rumors for years that the Waterworld stunt show in Universal Hollywood has been eyed for demolition, and at one point they were possibly considering replacing it with the Spiderman ride from Orlando. But now, with a very similar Transformers ride going in on the lower lot, I can’t help but hope for a clone of Forbidden Journey (and maybe a butterbeer cart, too.)

If you wanna dig into the wording, it has to be an expansion. Note that he says “THE theme park”. It’s been noted a few times in the past on this site that in the contract with Universal, it says that the HP portion of the park has to be updated every few years.

Also, if he designing something, wouldn’t have to be something new? With all the reports of theme parks in other locations, it always seems like other people demanded what is the current park in Orlando. And since the Orlando location already has the plans, etc. for the castle, what else is there? Sure, he could be working on stuff besides the castle for a new location, but that would be pretty dumb to build a park in another location without putting that expansion on the original.
