Hypable Exclusive: YouTube star Kaleb Nation secures TV reality show deal

Listen up, Nationeers: Kaleb Nation is heading from the computer screen to your television screen!

KK&P Productions announced this morning that they’ve secured a reality television show deal with Kaleb, who’s had a huge presence on YouTube over the past few years.

The press release sheds a little light on what you can expect from the show:

Mark Morgan (“The Twilight Saga”), NYT bestselling author Kami Garcia (“The Beautiful Creatures Series” & “Unbreakable”), Michael Pollack (“Black Forest”) and Brett Hudson (“Cloud 9”) are giving the YouTube Generation its first reality show, KALEB’S NATION, starring YouTube personality Kaleb Nation. Nation will also produce, and Hudson will direct.

The show will follow Kaleb Nation, as he develops the parodies, music videos, and pop culture commentary that have garnered over 28 million views on his YouTube channel, while throwing Nation into a totally new arena—Hollywood. Celebrities and other YouTube personalities will guest star, while Nation experiences a behind the scenes look at what it takes to make it on, and off, the red carpet. The producers are keeping the details under lock and key, but we were able to get a few comments.

According to Kami Garcia, “Anyone who watches Kaleb’s videos will immediately see the potential of the show, and I’m excited to be part of it.” Mark Morgan added, “I find Kaleb to be a fascinating and highly entertaining piece of talent. This is more than a TV show. Kaleb is a brand in and unto himself, and I am happy to be working with someone who has his finger on the pulse of current pop culture.”

This is one of the first times a YouTuber has taken a big step forward into television, and we can’t wait to see what Kaleb and KK&P come up with! A release date and place to watch have not been revealed yet since they’re still early in the production process, but we’ll keep you updated.

I’m unclear what this is. Where will the show air? What network? “Television” is a little vague. Is this just basically a pilot that’s been commissioned? Has anyone picked it up as a series? Please elaborate.

I’m guessing it was added after the fact, possibly because I asked the question. I was asking for elaboration from Hypable. You were just being a dick.

Now we just need to wait for the tell-all book on Kaleb’s climb to fame. Kaleb- don’t go the way of Disney stars… remember to wear underwear in public, stay away from drugs and alcohol, and don’t adopt kids from overseas unless the birth parents really give approval.

Yay! So exciting! I used to follow Kaleb like a hawk (remember Twilight Guy?) but lately I’ve been slacking…guess I know who’s video’s I’ll be watching next time I get a block of free time!
Also, I think this will be an interesting look at the empire that is Youtube.
Kaleb seems like such an endearing, hardworking person, and I’m excited to follow him on this new adventure.

As a long time fan of his (blogs, youtube, novels, etc.) I am so excited about this! Kaleb has an incredible presence, his sense of humor is hilarious and he is genuinely a good guy. Honestly, I can’t think of many people who deserve this more than he does.

Followed his Twilight Guy blog from its inception. I check to see what Kaleb’s up to once and a while, but his life isn’t that exciting. I don’t know what one could see on a reality show that you couldn’t just figure out from his tweets and videos. Still, happy to see him successful!

Good God.. WHY? Why are they giving this little attention whore a show? He’s not original, hardly funny, and all he ever does on his vlogs is shamelessly self promote himself and ride Twilights coattails. Absolute rubbish. Give genuinely funny and much more cooler and popular Alex Day a show. He’s actually original and not sniveling little nerd.

Garbage. This guy doesn’t have universal appeal..everyone I know hates his stuff! He’s a total dork. The only people people that like him are all of those lonely twilight fans and other uncool people. This show is going to fail, no doubt about it.

Haha there’s no way that this show gets picked up, it’s got failure written all over it. This kid is lame and not too attractive. They need to give Grace from Daily Grace a tv show. Now that girl has a face and personality made for Hollywood :)
