Emma Watson may star in live action ‘Beauty and the Beast’

Harry Potter actress Emma Watson may be in line to star in the live action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast.

Though this is just a rumor, Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy) is said to have his sights on the Beauty and the Beast live action remake. There doesn’t seem to be any details of the project on del Toro’s IMDB page, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t in the very early stages of development. Whether del Toro will serve as director or just producer on the project is unknown.

The report says Watson is to star in the adaptation, which presumably would make her Belle. Do you like this role for Emma Watson? Let us know!

  Yeah it’s not a musical. If Del Toro directs, it will probably be similar to Pan’s Labyrinth meaning it will be very dark.

    That would be fitting since the original story is much darker than the Disneyfied one as far as I remember…I think this could be very good

      It’s not too much darker, though…still a love story. Disney actually kind of added a bit of darkness because they added Gaston.

Doubtful this would be a musical. It would be the true story. Btw, the character’s name is spelled ‘Belle’.

I’m a little apprehensive about a real-life Beauty and the Beast, but Emma would be a good fit for Belle, as long as it’s not a musical. I’ve never heard her sing…

I could see Emma as Belle. I really hope del Toro is directing it because he is an amazing director and I would love to see him do Beauty and the Beast, even if Emma isn’t in it.

yeah, isn’t the only reason it’s a musical because of Disney? I would love to see the story without any music. I hope she’s in it. She would be an amazing Belle.

OH I HOPE THIS IS TRUE!!! I think she would be wonderful belle! Im not gonna lie i was slightly disappointed that she is going to be in perks of being a wallflower, not because i dont love her i just dont see her as that character (but i am trying to reserve compete judgment until after i see the film), i think belle would be a much better fit!

    I have to take offense to this. I’m a Twilight fan AND a Harry Potter fan. People can be fans of all kinds of things you know. Maybe this person just isn’t a fan of Emma Watson. I know that while I love her in most movies, her acting in GOF was atrocious. She was over the top and obnoxious.

I really HOPE this is true!!! She would perfect as Belle!! And Del Toro is such an amazing filmmaker. I always hoped he would do one of the Potters. I remember an interview in which he said he was interested, because Alfonso told him how much fun it was.

Happy for Emma and great director but Emma ? I like the Potter actors but they can’t carry a movie by themselves they’ll always have other actors.

  I remember reading/watching some interview with Emma and she said she would love to do something where she could sing, so I am guessing that she can!
  I think Emma as Belle seems like a perfect fit… she kind of fits that part because of her roll as Hermione. Both Belle & Hermione are strong, smart, and independent characters, and Emma did a good job of portraying that in Hermione! (:
