We’re live at LeakyCon 2011 in Orlando, Florida for a talk from some of the people behind J.K. Rowling’s Pottermore. We’ll be giving live updates from the Q&A for your reading pleasure. We anticipate some interesting details, so follow along!

“For everyone who’s registered at LeakyCon, you will be given a special chance to be in the beta. You’ve got a chance to be in early – it’s a
chance. You still have to do what everyone else does but you’ll know
about it earlier.”That’s still unfair. Some people like me, would’ve loved to attend LeakyCon but we live in Europe and don’t have the money to fly over there!

    • Anonymous

Agreed, if I’d had the money for a plane ticket I would have gone!! Unfair unfair :-(

    • Kirsten

I agree. It’s not fair. However, I’m sure it won’t be a huge edge- they might just know the challenge a few hours earlier. Besides, it’ll be just as hard for them as it is for us poor people who can’t go to Leakycon. Besides, there’s 1 million beta invites. Leakycon only has a few thousand attendees who may or may not know about the advantage, or they might just not figure it out. But then again, life isn’t fair.

I must say that I also agree. I was unable to go because I wouldn’t be 13 until a month after LeakyCon. I had almost convinced my parents to let me go as a birthday present until I saw the age limit. Not to mention that a lot of people can’t afford to attend conference. And, as Caitlin said below, JK Rowling had specifically mentioned how she wanted everyone to have access to it, so giving people who paid to got to LeakyCon an advantage to early access kind of defies that point.

  • Caitlin

I thought JK Rowling was determined for this all to be free, yet everyone who pays like $200 for Leakycon gets a huge advantage?? I live in Ireland and there’s no way I could have gone, this is really upsetting.

    • Guest

*shrugs*. I’m Irish and I was there.

      • Caitlin

lucky :o but still its quite expensive for most people.

Of course it’s free. We just get to wait longer than those who pay that large sum of money, but in the end it’s free for all.

I can’t wait! This is going to be awesome!

I was a little upset that at first I thought it said only people who registered at LeakyCon could be in the beta. At least the rest of us will be able to have a  shot. I’ll be hard to get in either way

  • Padfootluva

I believe it means anyone registered at the Leakycon website. I wasn’t able to go to LeakyCon in Florida, but I’m still registered on their website. At least I hope that’s what it means! XD

  • SusieIsAMuggle

Whoa! This sounds freaking cool! I will be so upset though if I have to wait till October because I have a strong feeling I will have to

    Pretty excited!

does anyone know where the harry potter movie review from mugglent is?

  • Samantha Stumpf

Okay, I’ll be %!$$ed if I’m forced to be “MoonCastle44.” I’ve been shortpower all my life, on every electronic platform I’ve ever signed up for (beginning with Neopets ten years ago).

Well then it’s time for a change? lol

  • Morinehtar

I wish I had gone to LeakyCon. On July 31, I’m going to be stuck in the Wild West with little or no internet connection. This is going to be quite a challenge…

“Briefly showed the ‘early heartbreak’ portion of the McGonagall story.”
Oh my God… Tom Riddle was only a year below her. Just saying.
