Say it’s so! While promoting his latest film Larry Crowne, actor Tom Hanks seems to confirm that Pixar is working on plans for Toy Story 4.

It wouldn’t be a surprise given how well Toy Story 3 did last summer (review and profit wise).

Hanks said to a radio station:

“I think they are trying to do another one. The spirit afoot is to make a fourth. Whatever is going on at Pixar headquarters is a mystery to me. I’ll wait until they blow white smoke out of the chimney or whatever it is that says there’s another Toy Story coming down the pipe.”

Pixar recently scheduled a November 2013 release date for a yet-to-be-announced film, but they mentioned it is not a sequel so this is likely not a spot for Toy Story.

At any rate, we hope it’s true! Do you think a fourth Toy Story is a good idea?

  • Liam

The third ended so well! It would be kind of weird if they made another. I love Toy Story but I think another would be too much.

  • Kat J.

As much as I adore the series in general and the third so much, I think they ended with just the right amount of magic, if you will. They had Andy pass Woody and Buzz and the gang to the next generation, and to me, that was literally the perfect ending. It was moving and made us all feel like kids again. So I don’t quite see where they could take this. It just wouldn’t be the same without Andy at least in the story.

  • Alvispotter

Yes it was a perfect ending so i don’t know. A sequel would definitely not work, no matter how could it could be, but maybe MAYBE something else can. I shall wait and not judge

  • Inferno320

No no no! I was so afraid that the the 3rd film would ruin the series I grew up with, but it turned out to be so freakin’ awesome! A 4th movie would definitely ruin Toy Story.

  • coolcatcheesecake

depends. if they mess it up, it’s going to mess up everyone’s childhood. but if it’s as good as the 3rd one was, i think that people will LOVE it :D

  • ME!

NOOOO… please no! As much as I love Toy Story, I think that 3 was a good movie, but not up to Pixar standards (I personally think that the reason people loved it so much was nostalgia). If they make another, they’ll be just another Shrek. Pixar’s forte is making new movies, and now they’re slipping into the horrible realm that other movie companies have fallen into: sequels. I want more original pixar movies!

  • Gryfindorpotter

dont another toy story it will opnly ruin it!

  • http://twitter.com/shshsharan Sharan Sangha

No. Everyone has moved on now, the toys and Andy. I don’t understand how they could make another? Unless they made a kind of ‘spin off’ with new toys but that would be awful (in my opinion). I hope they don’t make a fourth!

  • Guest

Do not make another one. It’s unnecessary.

  • http://twitter.com/jpsivley Justin

I was very happy with the way the story ended. I don’t want to see another one.

  • Whitney Davis

3 ended so perfectly, they’d ruin it if they made another one. :/

  • Maria

I’m pretty sure that Lee Unkrich (director of TS3) has said somewhere that there aren’t plans for a fourth film. Maybe an old question on his Formspring? I seriously doubt that they will make another. And they have the shorts, which allow them to explore little plots in that world. There’s really no need for another whole film, and after the negative feedback on Cars 2, they’re probably not going to go the sequel route for a while anyway.

    Worst idea ever.

  • Kebv3d

Toy Story 3 is one of the few much loved stories that had an amazing ending.  Making another film would ruin it.  However, I could possibly see them doing a TV show revolving around life with Bonnie.  But I would not support that either.

  • Rachel

I really hope this isn’t true.

  • http://twitter.com/zackfg Zachary Fortais Gomm

look, If they can make a good movie then why not.

  • Lee

no no no no no.  i’m losing my faith in pixar.  they really need to stop with the sequels.

  • Dstins

The 3rd one had the most amazing ending it could possibly have… Please don’t ruin it, Pixar!

  • devora a

No, no, nooooo. The movie ended perfectly. If they tried to make another one, I feel like they would focus on Bonnie…and the generation who grew up with Andy (and are now Andy’s age) would absolutely hate it. Leave it be.

I wouldn’t mind more shorts, though- Hawaiian Vacation was cute!:)

    • HPfanatic

Defiantly wouldnt mind more shorts too!

i loved toy story as a child and i loved the third one as a adult so i like the idea of a fourth one

  • http://www.facebook.com/MarvelouslyMarbolous Mario Lujan

i dont think it needs another one. the third really ended the series well

  • Michelle

there doesnt need to be another one. the way that the third one ended was perfect for ending the series. As a teen who grew up watching the movies I feel like they ended in the perfect way. If they make a fourth one I don’t think that it will be as good as the first 3.

It’s to bad that Pixar has changed their goals from making amazing films to making amazing money. I don’t think there needs to be more, the 3rd one ended really well, as much as didn’t like the sadness of the story. However, I would like to see another “Incredibles”.

I LOVE Toy Story and it’s easily my favourite Disney-Pixar film and within my top 5 films of all time; but I’m not sure that I want another one. I loved the ending of Toy Story 3 and it brought a sense of ‘closure’ (as cheesy as that sounds). Maybe they should just quit whilst they’re ahead?

    • HPfanatic

I agree, I hope the don’t pull a typical movie company and go and go and go and go until only the critics see the movie because everyone knows it will be awful. Love toy story, but hopefully Pixars better that.

  • nodaybut2day7

the ending to number 3 was perfect, dont screw it up pixar!!!!!!!

  • analoren

Come on, Pixar. Don’t pull a Dreamworks. You’re so much better than that.

  • Kristen

I think it’s a bad idea. I thought the series went out perfectly.

    • Eoin

  • Eoin

Not really. the series ended on just the perfect bitter-sweet moment. If Andy is in college it would not make sense to do another one.

  • Jazz

Knowing Pixar I think if they’re considering it they must have some good story behind it. Yet still I don’t see why they should go on when it was ended so well.

  • Tucker

No. They concluded the story well – why do they need a fourth one?

  • LilyGinnyBlack

I don’t like the sound of a fourth movie. A few shorts released here or there throughout the years dealing with the gang would be fine, but the third movie had such a wonderful “everything’s wrapped up” feeling about it and another movie would simply unraveling all of that and destroy such a perfect trilogy, in my opinion. A fourth movie would just be needless and harmful to series as a whole.

*prays that this will go the way of Newt*

Bring it on! Toy Story 3 was possibly my favourite Toy Story movie. The way Toy Story 3 left a really big opening for a fourth film. I don’t think it will go the same way as Shrek 4 (down the drain). Toy Story is such a timeless franchise so I think there  could be a lot more than 4 Toy Stories.

  • Laura Jones

no!! the end of three was so perfect! It was sad becasue we said goodbye to Andy but the toys got to live on in a new home- they shouldnt try and do another one without Andy

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000064671775 Benjamin Swall-yarrington

Hopefully this was just the short before Cars 2. It would be terrible if they cranked out another sequel just for the money.
